Grammy-nominated producer, composer/arranger, recording and touring bassist and multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, engineer/mixer, studio owner, educator with over 40 years in the music industry.

As a bassist/producer, John Avila has recorded, produced, or performed with numerous acts such as Oingo Boingo, Neil Young, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and many more.

John worked as a studio bassist on commercials, movie and television soundtracks including, but not limited to, ‘To Die For’, ‘An Extremely Goofy Movie’, ‘Snow Day’, ‘Dead Presidents’, ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ (Fox), Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi Channel, 4 seasons) Resurrection Blvd.(Showtime), The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America (ABC), and more.

 

John has been a music educator since 2003, working as an instructor, advisory board member and guest speaker.

Since 2009 and as of now, John is part of faculty at Los Angeles College of Music.
